Job Description

Social Worker Qualifications  
  • Possess two years of full-time direct care experience working with youth aged 6 to 21. Direct care experience may include work with youth involved in the juvenile justice system, or in settings such as institutions, camps, schools, community centers, youth rehabilitation programs, mental health or correctional institutions, or residential centers.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Have an Associate’s degree along with a minimum of six months direct care experience with youth as described above.
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and have at least one year of relevant experience working directly with youth.
  • Present a satisfactory equivalent combination of the above education and experience requirements.
Appropriate, verifiable part-time experience will be considered and accepted on a prorated basis. While submission of a resume is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended. Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with youth and staff that are grounded in professionalism, confidence, safety, and trust. This includes interacting effectively with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, physical ability, sexual orientation and gender identity expression (SOGIE), and socio-economic backgrounds. Supervision of youth may require one-to-one oversight based on their clinical needs.
  • Actively participate as a member of each youth’s support team, which consists of professional and para-professional staff working collaboratively to address the emotional and behavioral needs and goals of youth.
  • Approach interactions with confidence, especially when engaging with individuals who may be experiencing physical or emotional stress.
  • Implement graduated harm reduction strategies during supervision of youth. This involves correcting unsafe behaviors, and, when necessary, intervening verbally or physically to ensure safety. Harm reduction also requires recognizing personal or situational warning signs that could lead to conflict or harm, providing positive mentorship, and assisting youth in developing interpersonal and self-regulation skills.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the well-being of the facility community through collaboration and informed actions.
  • Supervise or assist youth during recreational and educational activities, and undertake various assignments as needed.
  • Establish and maintain positive, professional, and appropriate relationships with the families and loved ones of youth.
  • Support youth in achieving their education, work readiness, and community transition goals
