Job Title: Primary Therapist – LMSW / LCSW

Location: Coxsackie, NY

Type: Full-Time / M-F, 7:30am - 4pm
Position Summary
Penda Aiken Inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn, New York. Our client, a New York State Agency located in Coxsackie, NY, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to serve as a Primary Therapist within their Residential Mental Health Unit.

This role involves providing comprehensive mental health services in a forensic healthcare setting. It requires high reliability, clinical excellence, and the ability to work effectively with forensic and justice-involved populations. This contract position offers a 40-hour work week (Monday – Friday, no weekends) and may be renewed for up to two (2) years based on performance and agency need.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct Therapeutic Services: Serve as a primary therapist providing individual therapy and mental health interventions to assigned patients according to established agency policies and procedures.

  • Clinical Assessments & Documentation: Complete comprehensive mental health assessments and required clinical documentation, including Core Histories, Suicide/Risk Assessments, Weekly/Monthly Progress Notes, Treatment Plans, and Discharge Plans.

  • Orientation & Compliance: Complete Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) Orientation prior to assignment start; maintain strict compliance with facility safety, clinical protocols, and state regulations.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with facility multidisciplinary teams, nursing, and medical staff to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure: Active and unencumbered New York State license as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

  • Clinical Expertise: Proven experience conducting individual therapy, clinical assessments, suicide/risk assessments, and treatment planning.

  • Health Requirements: Must provide proof of a current TB Test (Tuberculosis screening) prior to placement.

  • Environment Suitability: Ability to work comfortably in a forensic/residential facility setting, which includes potential contact with incarcerated individuals.
