Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Healthcare (1:1 & Infirmary Care)

Location: Wallkill, NY

Type: Full-Time & Part-Time / Contract
Position Summary
Penda Aiken, Inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn, New York. Our client is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide acute nursing care, medical evaluations, and 1:1 patient care within a state correctional facility in Wallkill, NY.

This role involves emergency triage, 1:1 medication administration, diabetic monitoring, infirmary assessments, and comprehensive chart management. Candidates must possess strong clinical evaluation skills, quick decision-making under pressure, and meticulous documentation habits.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care & Triage: Provide 1:1 medication administration, diabetic monitoring, and medical care for patients admitted to siderooms and the infirmary.

  • Emergency Evaluation & Assessments: Evaluate, assess, and treat medical emergencies, injuries, indraft assessments, and patients returning from outside infirmaries or hospital visits.

  • Chart Management & Administrative: Transcribe medical providers' orders, prep medical charts for next-day appointments, and review medical records for patients returning from outside appointments.

  • Transfers & Continuity of Care: Prepare complete clinical documentation and coordination for patient transfers to external hospitals or state facilities.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure: Valid and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.

  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience (Med/Surg, ER, Urgent Care, or Correctional settings strongly preferred).

  • Skills: Strong clinical triage capabilities, accurate order transcription, and expertise in diabetic management.
