Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Investigative Specialist
Position Summary
The RN Investigative Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Board for Professional Medical Conduct by conducting investigations into medical misconduct. This position requires strong clinical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with legal and investigative teams to ensure thorough and accurate case reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigative Planning & Execution
    • Formulate investigative plans and conduct investigations related to medical misconduct.
    • Arrange and execute in-house, field, or phone interviews with complainants, attorneys, subjects of investigation, and other relevant individuals.

  • Clinical Analysis & Evidence Review
    • Analyze medical records and other clinical materials to provide expert clinical opinions.
    • Obtain, evaluate, and document documentary evidence in support of investigations.

  • Data & Case Development
    • Analyze statistical and investigative data, quality assurance materials, and criminal/malpractice information.
    • Develop legal and technical background materials for case investigations.

  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Document all investigative activities, interviews, and findings in writing.
    • Prepare completed case reports for presentation to the Board for Professional Medical Conduct.
    • Draft investigative correspondence for stakeholders, licensees, complainants, and the public.

  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work closely with investigative staff, medical coordinators, pharmacy consultants, attorneys, and management throughout the investigative process.
    • Communicate with outside entities, facilities, and agencies as needed.

Qualifications
  • Current RN license in good standing; no disciplinary actions.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
