Job Description: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will support the Brentwood Residential Center (BRC), a juvenile justice facility for female youth, by providing primary care and clinical oversight. The NP will work closely with medical staff to ensure comprehensive healthcare delivery and maintain compliance with OCFS policies and applicable regulations.
Responsibilities:
Conduct admission health assessments and annual physical exams
Review health histories, labs, immunization records, and referrals
Manage medications, write orders, and monitor efficacy and side effects
Address urgent and sick call needs, referring to MDs or emergency services as needed
Coordinate immunizations, TB tests, lab work, and consults
Maintain accurate documentation in youth health records and clinic logs
Write progress notes using the Problem-Oriented Approach
Provide after-hours and weekend phone consultation for urgent health issues
Communicate with families/guardians regarding medical needs
Collaborate with facility MD, psychiatrist, dentist, and nursing staff
Qualifications:
Certification and current registration as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner by the New York State Education Department
