Job Title: Mental Health Therapy Aide Position Type: Short-Term, Temporary (3 months) Location: Syracuse, NY Hours: Evenings, overnights Salary: $28 per hour Work Authorization: Applicants must have authorization to work for any U.S. employer without requiring sponsorship.
Role Overview Seeking Mental Health Therapy Aides for the Children/Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. Candidates should have pediatric experience (preferred) and psychiatric experience (required). Responsibilities
Perform patient care functions in an acute care setting with minimal supervision.
Provide direct and indirect patient care, including:
Taking and recording vital signs
Completing patient admission documentation
Assisting with physical examinations
Collecting specimens and monitoring intake/output
Transporting patients and orienting them to unit regulations and routines
Assisting with hygiene needs and ADLs
Communicate patient data accurately and promptly to nursing staff.
Develop therapeutic relationships under nursing supervision and interact therapeutically during activities.
Intervene during crisis situations and maintain a safe environment for patients.
Apply clinical and psychological interventions appropriate to age and developmental stage.
Perform safety checks during assigned shifts and observe/report patient responses to treatments.
Participate in nursing unit management activities.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of psychiatric experience (2 years preferred)
Pediatric experience preferred
Current CPR certification required
Prior inpatient experience preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
