Position Overview
Penda Aiken inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn New York. Our client is a New York State Agency and is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal to support a high-volume legal team in Lower Manhattan. This role is designed for a candidate who excels in the technical side of litigation support, specifically e-discovery management and investigative research. You will play a critical role in the discovery lifecycle, ensuring that evidence is properly processed and attorneys are fully prepared for court proceedings.
Key Responsibilities

  • Subpoena Management: Oversee the end-to-end administrative process of serving subpoenas and other legal documents, ensuring strict adherence to timelines and compliance.

  • E-Discovery & Data Organization: Manage incoming document responses by organizing and loading data into Relativity. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of digital evidence.

  • Investigative Research: Conduct deep-dive searches using Accurint and other specialized databases to assist in case development and background verification.

  • Litigation Support: Prepare comprehensive materials for examinations, depositions, and court appearances. This includes conducting targeted document searches and retrievals within Relativity.

  • Legal Documentation: Attend high-level meetings and interviews to provide detailed note-taking. Draft formal, concise memos summarizing the findings and discussions from these sessions.
Required Qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced experience with Relativity (document loading, searching, and organizing) is essential.

  • Database Experience: Proven ability to navigate Accurint or similar investigative search engines.

  • Communication Skills: Strong analytical writing skills with the ability to produce professional memos under tight deadlines.

  • Education: A Technical Degree or a Paralegal Certificate Program is highly preferred.

  • Detail Orientation: Extreme attention to detail regarding legal service and document management protocols.
