Job Description: Legal Secretary
Location: Albany, NY Position Overview We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our team in Albany, NY. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to attorneys, ensuring the efficient operation of the legal office. This position requires exceptional communication skills, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents such as correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and briefs.
  • Manage and organize physical and electronic filing systems for legal documents and case files.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, court dates, appointments, and travel arrangements for attorneys.
  • Communicate with clients, court personnel, and other parties as needed, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Assist attorneys by performing legal research and gathering relevant case materials.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries.
  • Maintain calendars and monitor deadlines to ensure timely completion of legal tasks.
  • Handle billing, invoicing, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Prior experience as a legal secretary or in a similar administrative role within a law firm is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
