Location: Jamaica, NY

Type: Full-Time / Contract
Position Summary
Penda Aiken Inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn, New York. Our client is a premier healthcare facility and is seeking multiple compassionate, detail-oriented Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) professionals to join their team in Jamaica, New York. Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), this role focuses on providing high-quality skilled care, emotional reassurance, and daily living assistance to Veterans residing at the home.

We are actively hiring for multiple openings across various shifts to accommodate your availability:

  • Morning Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Night Shift: 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM

This is a fast-paced environment requiring high reliability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to upholding resident safety, dignity, and privacy at all times.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct Resident Care & Hygiene: Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, and toileting. Provide dedicated perineal care, change linens, make beds, and maintain clean, safe resident rooms.

  • Mobility & Nutritional Support: Deliver safe mobility assistance, including transfers, ambulation, and the proper use of assistive devices (walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts). Assist with meal feeding, setup food trays, and accurately document food/fluid intake and output.

  • Observation, Testing & Reporting: Monitor residents’ physical and emotional status; promptly report changes such as pain, skin breakdown, or behavioral shifts to the supervising nurse. Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, height, and oxygen saturation) as directed.

  • Infection Control & Safety Compliance: Strictly observe facility infection control protocols, including proper handwashing, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) utilization, and isolation procedures. Ensure a safe living environment by utilizing safety devices (gait belts, alarms), keeping call bells within reach, and responding swiftly to alarms and emergency drills (falls, elopements, fire).

  • Communication & Record Keeping: Document all care services rendered accurately in daily logs or electronic medical records (EMR). Participate in detailed shift hand-off reports to support continuity of care, and communicate changes in resident conditions immediately to nursing staff.

  • Resident Advocacy & Supportive Care: Treat all residents with utmost respect, protecting their rights, dignity, and privacy. Provide emotional support, encourage personal independence during daily tasks, and assist residents in attending recreational and social activities.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification & Licensure: Active and unencumbered New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

  • Certifications: Current BLS/CPR certification preferred.

  • Technical & Clinical Skills: Proficiency in transferring patients utilizing mechanical lifts and gait belts; familiarity with baseline electronic medical records charting.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate transparently and effectively with veterans, family representatives, and multidisciplinary medical teams.
