Job Description


Title: Senior Financial Analyst (Budget Analyst)
Position Type: Long-Term, Temporary (1+ years)
Location: Long Island City, NY
Hours: TBD

This role offers the opportunity to bring your financial expertise and analytical skills into a setting where your work directly supports leadership decision-making and drives meaningful improvements. As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will provide essential insights, build effective policies, and guide projects that shape operations and long-term strategy.

What You Will Do
  • Prepare detailed analytical reports for Senior Management, including vendor evaluations, scheduling data, financial reviews, performance metrics, and regulatory reporting.
  • Recommend and help implement new policies and procedures that strengthen departmental operations.
  • Guide staff or contractors in carrying out projects and ongoing initiatives.
  • Develop methodologies and models that allow leadership to view issues from a systems-wide perspective.
  • Lead and coordinate special projects that impact the department and the organization as a whole.
  • Build consensus on policies and procedures while conducting research to ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Support the accuracy and relevance of the organization’s policy manuals.
  • Carry out additional assignments as needed to support the department’s mission.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience developing, analyzing, and monitoring capital budgets.
  • Ability to create and adjust budgets within financial systems.
  • Strong collaboration skills with Capital Planning and internal Finance Reporting teams.
  • Expertise in reviewing and analyzing cost estimates and producing accurate forecasts.
  • Proven ability to follow up across departments and with external agencies as needed.
  • Experience creating and maintaining projects within tracking systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Three to five years of full-time experience in finance, accounting, or budgeting, with a focus on analytical work.
