Job Description

Title: Project Engineer
Position Type: Long-term, temporary (1+ years)
Location: Hybrid (Long Island, NY)
Hours: Monday – Friday
Salary: $85 per hour

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate resources (internal personnel, contractors, special equipment, vehicles, tools, etc.) and satisfy job requirements (switching & clearance requests, outage coordination, mark outs, flagging, tree trim, etc.) timely in order to achieve maximum crew efficiencies & the timely completion of work.
  • Assists with reviews of engineering design packages (IFCs)
  • Coordinate with materials management to ensure materials are available to meet schedules, assist in the management of material requirements, and report material deficiencies to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Coordinate LIRR support based of construction schedule.
  • Responsible to interpret electrical drawings and electronic maps
  • Read, interpret, and manage project and program schedule
  • Communicate with stakeholders in order to coordinate appointments & planned outages, as well as resolution of inquiries and any other communications that may be necessary.
  • Performs technical/engineering problem solving in support of plant operations
  • Develops engineering design change packages
  • Initiates/participates in continuous improvement planning and implementation in assigned area of responsibility
  • Coordinates activities with contractors
  • Prepares written reports in assigned area of responsibility
  • Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them
  • Coordinates development of scope, schedule, and budget estimates for proposed projects
  • Monitors engineering design development and engineered equipment procurement/delivery activities on approved plant 

Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Engineering Degree
  • Knowledge and experience with electric transmission and distribution systems.
  • Experience in reading, interpreting, and managing project and program schedules.
  • Existing knowledge of electric utility related work.
  • Knowledge and experience with electric transmission and distribution systems.
  • Experience in reading, interpreting and managing project and program schedules and relevant communications. 
  • Experience with relevant software such as Microsoft Office products and possess the ability to quickly learn new systems and applications. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interface and communicate with people at all levels and across organizations. 
  • Demonstrated personal accountability and excellent organizational skills to deliver performance excellence.
  • A valid US drivers’ license with a safe driving history.
  • Must live in Nassu or Suffolk County
