Job Description

Title: Medical Assistant
Position Type: Long-term, temporary
Location: New York, NY
Hours: M-F, 9-5 (11am-7pm twice per month)
Salary: $22 per hour
Work Authorization: Must have authorization to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship
In healthcare, it’s often the small, thoughtful actions that leave the biggest impression. As a Medical Assistant, you're not just checking vital signs or managing schedules—you’re the calm in the chaos, the bridge between patients and providers, and a vital force in keeping care personal, efficient, and dignified.
We're looking for someone compassionate, organized, and adaptable—someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where every detail matters and every patient deserves your full attention. What You’ll Do:
  • Welcome patients warmly and manage front desk operations: check-in, registration, insurance verification, scheduling, phone calls, and messaging
  • Support providers during clinical visits, including taking vital signs (height, weight, glucose, peak flow, vision screening) and assisting with procedures like EKGs
  • Perform phlebotomy and serve as liaison for lab-related functions, including inventory and control testing
  • Maintain infection control and adhere to OSHA standards in all patient interactions
  • Ensure emergency supplies are properly stocked and report issues proactively
  • Keep accurate, up-to-date documentation within the electronic medical records (EMR) system
  • Coordinate the discharge process, including referrals, transportation, radiology, follow-up, and approvals
  • Help complete patient-related forms such as insurance claims, medication approvals, and disability documents
  • Manage incoming faxes and ensure documentation is routed appropriately
  • Confirm upcoming appointments and conduct follow-ups for missed visits
  • Provide administrative support as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the entire care team
What You Bring:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited EKG/Phlebotomy training program
  • Experience in ambulatory care and a working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong clerical, communication, and basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods
  • Clear written and spoken English fluency
Why You Matter Patients may not remember every medical term or procedure—but they’ll remember how you made them feel. As a Medical Assistant, your empathy, efficiency, and attention to detail help ensure every person receives high-quality, respectful care from the moment they walk through the door.

If you’re ready to be the steady, supportive presence every great care team relies on, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today and make a difference where it truly counts.
