Title: Manager for On-Board Communications Position Type: Long-Term, Temporary (1+ years) Location: New York, NY Hours: TBD Salary: $51.44 per hour
Our client, NYC's largest transportation agency, is seeking to hire a Manager for On-Board Communications for its modernization program.
Responsibilities:
CBTC On-Board System Implementation:
Lead the implementation of CBTC on-board communication systems, ensuring alignment with project schedules and organizational objectives.
Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of on-board systems, addressing technical challenges as they arise.
Safety Coordination:
Collaborate with safety and regulatory entities to ensure on-board systems comply with all safety standards and guidelines.
Integrate safety requirements into all phases of the on-board system implementation process.
Supplier Collaboration:
Work closely with suppliers and vendors to secure high-quality equipment and materials for on-board communication systems.
Manage supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to contractual obligations.
Project Support:
Provide technical and managerial support for ongoing projects related to CBTC and on-board communication systems.
Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement corrective measures to ensure successful outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Coordinate with internal teams, including operations, engineering, and procurement, to ensure seamless integration of on-board systems.
Act as a key point of contact for on-board communication system inquiries, fostering clear and consistent communication among stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred), or;
Minimum of 4Â years of experience managing complex transit system projects, with a focus on on-board communication or signaling systems.
Demonstrated experience with CBTC or similar advanced train control systems is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in system integration and testing methodologies.
Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements for transit systems.
Knowledge of communication protocols and equipment used in CBTC or related systems.
Strong leadership and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and disciplines.
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
