We’re looking for an experienced Outpatient Auditor/Coder who brings more than technical skills—you bring insight, strategy, and a genuine desire to elevate documentation quality across the board.
What You’ll Do:
Conduct thorough audits of outpatient records, including same-day surgeries, ED visits, diagnostics, and clinic visits
Validate and refine ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding using 3M CAC/encoder tools
Pinpoint errors, missed charges, and documentation gaps that others might overlook
Identify trends and recommend actionable improvements that reduce risk and enhance clarity
Build clear, digestible executive summaries of audit findings for stakeholders
Collaborate with CDI, HIM, and clinical teams to raise documentation standards
Launch and manage physician queries to clarify the clinical picture and support compliant coding
Keep pace with CMS, AHIMA, and payer-specific outpatient coding/audit rules and revisions
Who You Are:
AHIMA-certified (CCS or RHIT required; CCS-P highly preferred)
Have at least 5 years of outpatient coding experience, with 3+ years focused on auditing
Know the ins and outs of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and OPPS/APC reimbursement
Proficient in 3M CAC and encoder systems
Comfortable auditing high-volume, complex environments like hospital outpatient departments, ambulatory surgery centers, or EDs
Clear communicator with the ability to translate complex audit findings into practical, corrective guidance
Skilled at clinical documentation review and query development
Familiar with Meditech (preferred); Epic or McKesson experience also valued
